Do not use isoproply alcohol Scanner Window AAA 14 15 TROUBLESHOOTING AND ROUTINE MAINTENANCE Cleaning the Drum Unit We recommend placing the drum unit on a drop cloth or large disposable paper to avoid spilling and scattering toner Clean the primary corona wire inside the drum unit by gently sliding the tab from right to left several times Return the tab and snap it into the Home position y Ye 19 os Y y wa ng 7 Caution If the tab is not at Home position y printed pages may have vertical stripes Reinstall the drum unit into the DCP See Replacing the Drum Unit page 14 19 Close the front cover Plug in the power cord Replacing the Toner Cartridge The DCP can print up to 6 000 pages using a high yield toner cartridge When the toner cartridge is running low the LCD shows TONER LOW The DCP is supplied with a standard toner cartridge that must be replaced after approximately 3 000 pages Actual page count will vary depending on your average document type 1 e standard letter detailed graphics pote It is a good idea to keep a new toner cartridge ready for use when you see the TONER LOW warning Discard the used toner cartridge according to local regulations If you are not sure of them your local Sanitation Department Be sure to seal the toner cartridge tightly so toner powder does not spill out of the cartridge When discarding used

Warranty coverage does not apply to problems caused by the use of 3rd party Toner 3rd party Toner Cartridge or 3rd party Drum unit Gently rock the toner cartidge from side to side five or six times to distribute the toner evenly inside the cartridge Remove the protective cover Insert the new toner cartridge in the drum unit until it clicks into place Drum Unit Clean the primary corona wire inside the drum unit by gently sliding the blue tab from right to left several times Return the blue tab to the Home position y before reinstalling the drum unit assembly TROUBLESHOOTING AND ROUTINE MAINTENANCE 14 18 Reinstall the drum unit and close the front cover Replacing the Drum Unit The DCP uses a drum unit to create print images on paper If the LCD shows CHANGE DRUM SOON the drum unit is near the end of its life and it is time to purchase a new one Even if the LCD shows CHANGE DRUM SOON you may be able to continue printing without having to replace the drum unit for a while However if there is a noticeable deterioration in the output print quality even before CHANGE DRUM SOON appears then the drum unit should be replaced You should clean the DCP when you replace the drum unit See page 14 16 Caution When removing the drum unit handle it carefully because it contains toner If toner scatters and your hands or clothes get dirty immediately wipe it off or wash it with cold
