2. fter Modifying Database from the StarFinder Options dialog box Data Files added to the database from the StarFinder window will be reflected in the display if they satisfy the search criteria Data Files added to the database by performing automated injections or recalculations in System Control however will not be detected by StarFinder until you explicitly repeat the search Printing in StarFinder The printer used by StarFinder to print the contents of the spreadsheet display the Print List command may be different than the printer used when printing reports from StarFinder the Print Reports command Set the Windows default printer use Set as Default from the list of printers in the Windows Printers panel to specify the printer for the spreadsheet list To change the printer used for reports set the Default Star Printer from the Printer Setup dialog box accessed from the Print Setup item in the StarFinder File menu The format used when printing reports from StarFinder the Print Reports command is that specified in the Standard Report section in the Method last used when processing the selected Data File s If for example the Standard Report section specifies that both chromatogram printouts and results printouts are disabled unchecked then selecting Print Reports from StarWriter will not print any reports 3 of 3
3. s to ensure the most reliable system operation LC Control Release Notes Information for Star Workstation customers running LC Control software GC Control Release Notes Information for Star Workstation customers running GC Control software SPEC 03 914411 00 1 of 3 1 2 3 4 5b 7 Upgrading from Previous Versions of StarFinder Database Installation If you are installing StarFinder on a Workstation for the first time the installation program will automatically install a fresh copy of the database file STARFIND MDB in the Star Workstation directory If you have a previous version of StarFinder on the Workstation then you have two options 1 You can use a newly installed database by moving the old STARFIND MDB file out of the Star Workstation directory prior to the installation The installation will then create a new database file You can still access the old database by following the directions in the Moving or Changing the Database File section of the StarFinder Operation Manual 2 You can use the old database file by simply doing nothing The installation program will leave the old database intact in the Star Workstation directory If you choose to install StarFinder this way you should realize that the database changes made in Version 5 see below will not be available Database Changes Starting with Version 5 the database has been enhanced to provide support for long file names and multiple database entries for the same Da
4. ta File name In versions of StarFinder prior to Version 5 if you archived a Data File and then re used the same path and file name for a new Data File there would only be one entry in the database that of the new Data File The Version 6 0 database is indexed on both Data File Name and Injection Date Therefore you can now re use Data File names as long as the injection times differ Miscellaneous Notes 2 of 3 Accessing one database from multiple Workstations The StarFinder installation program installs a single StarFinder database in the directory where the Star Workstation is installed If you want multiple StarFinder installations to share one database on a network server copy one StarFinder database file STARFIND MDB to the shared network location To link to this database open the 32Bit ODBC icon in the Windows Control Panel Select the StarFinder entry and choose Configure When the ODBC Microsoft Access 97 dialog is displayed with the StarFinder database choose Select and pick the database that you wish to use When adding Data Files to the network database keep in mind that the Data File path names in the database must be common to all Workstations using StarFinder Refer to the StarFinder Operation Manual for details on configuring your system for shared database access 03 914727 00 3 03 914727 00 3 Updating the StarFinder display after new Data Files are added to the database If you select Always Search A
